An entry for :iconbirds-club:'s Mythical Birds contest
And is partly made for :iconchildrensillustrator:'s monthly theme: "Cherry Blossom"

Blue Bird of Happiness
*painted with watercolors*
size: 13x15 cm

Dedicated to the loving memory of Peter.

"The mythology of the bluebird of happiness has deep roots that go back thousands of years. Indigenous cultures across the globe hold similar myths and beliefs about the bluebird. It is the most universally accepted symbol of cheerfulness, happiness, prosperity, hearth and home, good health, new births, the renewal of springtime, etc. Virtually any positive sentiments may be attached to the bluebird.

In magical symbology, bluebirds are used to represent confidence in the positive aspect and egotism in the negative. A dead bluebird is a symbol of disillusionment, of the loss of innocence, and of transformation from the younger and naive to the older and wiser." /<wikipedia

The myth of the Blue Bird of Happiness exists in many different cultures. There's no "official" look for the bird, so I created my own version.

Very delicate and detailed...very good work...may I ask what media you used...and I wonder what a light touch of blue would do overall..looking forward to any update...but as always with you very good work...

Oops, I forgot to mention that I used watercolors.
/I wrote it in the first description, but then came some DA bug..

Thank you! I do hope that the photo will look better than this scanned version ..

Beautifully done! It's sad but true that scanners are cruel to blues, but it really looks wonderful. Gorgeous detail in the eye, and I like the border - it's a nice touch. :)
