I deleted what I wrote earlier. I think it's best not to write too personal journals. ^^;

In the meantime I reached 20 000 Page views, so that's great.
Thanks for all the visits. :thanks:

***** MIGHT BE IMPORTANT FOR CAT OWNERS ******
I discovered a flea in Benji's fur a couple of weeks ago after he came back from being with his sister. I put on an anti-parasite collar on him that was supposed to be good against fleas and ticks and other parasites. A couple of days later as I was stroking Benji as he was sitting in my lap I saw a flea on his head, despite Benji wearing a collar. I took Benji to the vet and he gave Benji some medicine that you apply on the back of your pet's neck that gets rid of parasites. The vet was actually laughing at me for thinking that anti-flea collars would work..
Another important thing if you have a neutered Tom is to take it to the vet every once in a while /I don't know exactly how often I forgot to ask/ so the vet can
empty the cat's stink bladder, because if it gets too full it can get inflamed.

I feel for you, and i hope that spring and sun will find it's way into you life and help cheer you up

Oh, benji had fleas? are they gone now that he's been to the vet?
actually, i've heard that anti-flea collars can be harmfull for cats, (and other animals) because the chemicals they use on the collars are just as damaging for the animal wearing it as for the flea. i don't know if it's true though...
Also, mio is 9 years and i bet i can count the times he's been to the vet on 1 or max 2 hands ^^; he's neutered but hasn't had problems with the stink bladder you mention :O

Mio has never had any fleas, but there has been two times i think, when we've found a tick in his fur (luckily neither had gotten the time to bite him, they were just crawling around) ..
It was a tick-bite that made my brother ill... they are dangerous creatures :(

 Thank you very much!

Yep. He had fleas when I got him as a baby too. I don't know where Mirci hers, at least I'm suspecting her as Benji didn't have any contact with other cats.

Ticks can be a real drag. Jónáska, my cat before Benji, who lived at my dad's place used to get ticks regularly :(

Anti parasite cat collars are indeed dangerous. I've always been scared of Benji licking it and getting ill because of it..
It's highly poisonous for other animals too.

Gratulálok a sok pv-hez!

:XD:

It is true that most flea collars don't work. Additionally, they have been implicated in liver and kidney disfunction. Generally, it is best to steer clear of them. The topical application ones like Frontline and Advantage have the lowest known side effects so it was a good move on your vet's part. Fortunately, where I live, we usually don't have fleas but sometimes have ticks.

Congratulations of reaching 20,000 PVs! You deserve it as your work is outstanding.

 Emptying the bladder might make the vet money but does little for your cat. Having your cat on a high protein diet (in dry foods this is over 35% - Innova Evo 50%, Royal Canin Indoor Light 40% have such dry foods, most canned foods are higher in protein than most dry foods) and giving them distilled water to drink will do more than most things to keep bladder inflammation to a minimum. A cat's natural prey is 50-70% protein by dry weight. However, the anal glands sometimes do need being squeezed out but that is not the same.

Congrats on your 20K :) I had heard that flea collars don't work either; and aren't that great for the kitty overall :kitty:

If you must drink and draw, please do so responsibly.

Köszi :)

Én is igyekeztem elkapni és megölni a bolhákat, de attól féltem, hogy mi van ha lepetéztek és elszaporodnak..

I didn't know about the side effects of flea collars to cats, but I've been scared about him accidentally licking it and getting sick.

Thank you kindly! :D

Benji usually eats canned food with dry food for indoor cats sprinkled on top. He sometimes gets some dairy products and sometimes bits of raw meat.

Thank you very much!

They're not just not great for the cat, but not good for the environment either..

You are most welcome. :D

That's good. It sounds like you are feeding him well. Dairy isn't the best for cats but the raw meat is OK as long as you have him checked for worms periodically. Distilled water for drinking is still the best for cats. :)
